Bride ransom

Often the wedding day starts with the ransom of the bride. This is a funny tradition in which mostly young people take part. The groom is coming to the bride’s house, but first he must overcome all the challenges specially prepared for him by the bride’s girl-friends. The main task of the girls led by the bride’s witness is to ask the groom confusing questions and try to prevent a free way for him and get as much money from him as possible. In a word, they try to get a lot of money, champagne, sweets and everything that the groom prepared for the ransom. But his friends’ task is to give as few ransom items as possible.

If you decide to organize a ransom, do not extend it, it must take approximately 10-20 minutes. Making up tasks and challenges for the ransom, think if your future husband is able to solve them (do not puzzle him too much not to spoil his mood for the whole wedding). Below there is a list of contests for a ransom from which you can choose only those which everybody will like.

Write different letter on the stares of the threshold of the house, walking up the groom must tell the bride sweet words that start from the appropriate letter.
Put tables with questions about the bride and her family. To make another step the groom must answer the next question correctly.
The groom’s witness gets an apple with matches; taking off the matches one by one he must innumerate all the positive trades of the character of the groom.

You will need to make several paper hearts (the contest is done on the stairs-well), write down one of the reasons of the marriage on the other side of the hearts: “marriage of convenience”, “because of pregnancy”, etc. The heart with the note “because of love” must lie on the last stair. The groom must reach the last heart trying not to step on the hearts with wrong answers and touch the stair rails. The witness of the groom is supposed to get the point and carry the groom up to the last stair.
Put camomiles of two different colors on the stairs. If you step on a red flower, tell a good word about the bride, if you step on a blue flower, tell how you are going to curse her. If you don’t want to curse her, pay.
Freeze the key for the house in an ice-cube. You can also freeze several other wrong key in ice-cubes.
Put small pieces of paper in balloons. Put down the word “key” on one of the papers. The groom must choose a balloon and break it, if there is the right paper in it, he gets the key for the house - if there is a wrong paper, he must pay a ransom. You can also put down the bride’s name on one paper, and the names of the guest including men’s names on the rest papers.
The girls meet the groom with a glass of water. He must put as many coins in it as it is necessary to make the water pour away.
The groom must put something rustling, something jingling and something plashing in three glasses.
The groom is given three glasses (with salt, sour and sweet water). Which face he makes when he drinks the water, the same face he will make living with his future wife.
The entrance dour and all the doors in the house are locked. There is a task on each door. The groom is choosing any door behind which he expects the bride, and accomplishes the task.
If the groom gives the correct answer, he can open the door, a wrong answer – he must choose another door or pay the ransom. There may be another person in one of the rooms, even a man, dressed like a bride.
The groom must write the bride’s name on the table using money.
The groom must recognize the bride in the pictures of her childhood. The pictures can hang on threads, and then the groom must jump and kiss her picture.
There is a dartboard on the door with the attached notes such as “because of love”, “marriage of convenience”, “due to the friends’ advice”, “being a fool”, “who knows”, etc. The groom must through the darts in it, explaining the reason of the marriage. He can also use a plug of champagne bottle.
The groom must choose his future wife from a pack of cards on which there are different funny pictures (from “playboy”, caricatures, etc) and the bride’s picture. An unsuccessful attempt and the decision to choose another card are worth money.
The groom must read a poem or sing a song with his friends for the bride.
Make the groom and his friends dance the Swan dance or the Gipsy dance to their own accompaniment.
Ask the groom to draw a picture of the bride (but before you should choose a grandma to say that the portrait looks like her).
All the women on the wedding use lipstick and leave the print of their lips on a piece of paper. The groom must recognize his fiancée’s lips-print.
The groom must recognize the bride’s wedding finger among many other girls’ fingers. Spread a sheet and make many holes in it, the girls must put their fingers in the holes.
The groom overcomes all the difficulties and finally reaches the room with the bride, when he opens the door he sees a wrong bride – a dressed-up man or an old woman.
Offer the groom to put something for the sole into a bawl. He must guess that he is supposed to stand in it himself.
When the groom reaches the bride’s room, he must say the magic words to open the door. He must guess that the magic words are “I love you!”
You can also stick wall-paper on the door of the bride’s room. And pretend that there are no more rooms in the house. When the groom breaks the wall-paper, ask him to pay for the damage of the house.
Under the last door there are many threads and bands attached to the bride and other guests. The groom is supposed to choose one and pull the bride out of the room. If he pulls out not a bride, but, for example, her neighbor-pensioner, he must pay or marry the person he pulled out.
The groom is entering the bride’s room, but the bride is missing one shoe! He must guess in which box there is the right shoe (put her other shoes and men’s boots in several boxes).
